More than 48 Carson High School (CHS) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students attended the state conference in Sparks, Nev. this past week. In total, 38 of those students earned 74 “Top-10” placements in 30 separate events. Additionally, three CHS FBLA students took state with first-place finishes and 15 of them qualified for the National Business Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla. this coming June.
First-place finishers (State Champions) include Eva Lindbloom in Future Business Educator, McKenzie Merrell in Public Service Announcement and Kennedy Nolan in Introduction to Business Presentation.
Additionally, Kyle Allen was elected as Northern Region Vice President for Nevada FBLA; McKenzie Merrell and Sophia Nguyen earned National Business Honor Roll Recognitions; McKenzie Merrell, Nasia Perkins and Sophia Nguyen also earned the Erin Hackmen Travel Scholarship. Carson High School Marketing Teacher Cody Downing was also named Advisor of the Year for Nevada and Carson High Vice Principal Josh Billings was named Administrator of the Year for Nevada.
Finally, Carson High FBLA received the Gold Seal Chapter Award, which recognizes outstanding local chapters that have actively participated in projects and programs identified with the goals of FBLA. Active local chapters much be nominated by the State Leader of FBLA. Each state may select only two chapters for this award.
