The Carson City School District is pleased to announce Carson High School’s plan to host an in-person graduation ceremony for the Class of 2021 Saturday, June 5, 2021, starting at 9 a.m. The ceremony will take place on the football field. Attendees will be able to sit in the bleachers and other areas will be available such as grass areas and the outside edge of the football field.

Attendees must wear a mask and are encouraged to sit with their families or selected pods. The high school asks that families/pods socially distance from each other.

Carson High School reiterated its plan to follow Nevada state guidance detailed in Directive 044, specifically the following.

  • Decisions related to social distancing, sanitation protocols, capacity limits, school transportation, and other mitigation measures will be delegated to county school districts, charter school sponsors, and private school leaders effective May 1.
  • The mask and face covering requirements set forth in Directive 024 and Section 4 of Directive 028 (schools) will continue to be a statewide standard.

Please remember that if the community health status takes a turn for the worse and the City or State guidance changes, Carson High School will have to adapt graduation plans to match health directives and expectations.

Pioneer High School will host an in-person graduation ceremony with a drive-through format on campus Wednesday, June 2, at 6 p.m. A video presentation will also be sent to families and a senior dedication ceremony on campus will be announced.

Carson Middle School at 1140 W. King St. will host a drive-through promotion ceremony for eighth graders at 10 a.m. Friday, June 4, celebrating its year-end tradition in a new way for the first time. Eagle Valley Middle School at 4151 E. Fifth St. will also hold a drive-through promotion ceremony from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 4, holding to its plan from last year. Students at both schools are required to pass all classes, have all necessary credits and make sure they do not owe any outstanding fees to the schools to participate. Staff will conduct a final grade check Friday, May 21. Promotion certificates will be mailed with report cards.

If any of the district’s various elementary schools decide to host fifth grade promotions and Pre-K or kindergarten graduations, information will be sent directly to parents and families.
