There were two categories for the recognition: academic and Career and Technical Education (CTE) Presidential Scholars. The Carson City School District was a point of highlight in the Nevada Association of School Boards (NASB) Annual Conference this past Saturday, Nov. 17. Once a year, NASB recognizes the achievements and contributions of school boards, school trustees, teachers, administrators, educational advocates and others from across the state of Nevada. Additionally, the association elected new officers for 2018-2019. The Carson City School District hauled in nearly a quarter of the awards (5 out of 19) among the 17 districts statewide. Cookie Dough Nets $9,200 for EVMS

Eagle Valley Middle School (EVMS) went ‘dough to dough’ in the Parent Teacher Organization’s (PTO) annual cookie dough fundraiser. In total, the gross sales were equivalent to more than $23,000. The school earns about 40 percent of total gross sales, bringing the net total to $9,200. A total of 1,547 units were sold.  READ MORE...

Grade-schoolers Raise $15,000 for Enrichment Activities

Eighteen students, who were the top fundraisers from Bordewich Bray Elementary School, were treated to a catered luncheon at the Governor’s Mansion Tuesday, Oct. 16. In total, more than $15,000 were raised at Bordewich’s Jog-a-Thon event, Oct. 5. Keeping Minds Active During Summer

The Carson City School District's Gifted and Talented Education Program (GATE) recently sponsored a summer theater camp in partnership with Wild Horse Children's Theater. Fifty students from across the district participated in this camp, which culminated with a live performance of Aladdin at the Brewery Arts Center last Friday night. The camp and final performance were well received by students and families, and the GATE program looks forward to sponsoring additional productions in the future. Open House to Celebrate New Musical Instruments

To celebrate the arrival of several new musical instruments from the $16,000 grant for music education earned earlier this year, Mark Twain Elementary School will host an Orff & Drum Music Open House Tuesday, May 29, at 6 p.m. in the multipurpose room. In January, the school announced a $16,000 grant awarded for music education. The monies were used to purchase new musical instruments including a 50-piece world drumming set, steel drums, hand chimes and various other percussion instruments.  READ MORE...

The Carson City School District (CCSD) is asking families with newborn children to age six to attend the free Early Childhood Expo this Saturday, March 3, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada, 1870 Russell Way, Carson City, Nevada 89706.
