Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak and First Lady Kathy took some time to visit and read to first grade students at Empire Elementary School in Carson City Tuesday afternoon.

Greeted at the door of Mrs. Emily Drew’s classroom with a letter printed on poster-paper, Governor Sisolak took the time to read the hand-crafted welcome from students from both Mrs. Drew’s and Mrs. Eva Currence’s classes. Each student’s name and handprint framed the letter.

After settling down in the classroom, the governor and his wife took turns reading the book “Trick-or-Treat Nevada.” At the conclusion of the story, students took turns asking questions. They also explained how they were learning to be engineers and how they were able to fix one of their playground swings.

Governor Sisolak invited all the students to come and trick-or-treat at his house (the Governor’s Mansion) this Thursday.
