District Temporarily Limits Transportation Services

Due to staffing shortages, the Carson City School District transportation and bus services will be limited to only special education routes effective Friday, Jan. 21, 2022. Consequently, the school district asks that all parents and families make arrangements to transport their regular education students to and from school until further notice. In the immediate short-term, district officials will make daily communications to update parents and families on the ability to fully resume transportation services.

Based on input received from the Nevada Department of Education, feedback from school district employees and additional discussion with trustees and public comment at the school board meeting Tuesday, January 11, 2022, the Carson City School District has posted its revised Safe School Reopening Plan for the 2021-2022 school year.

Carson City School District to Close all Schools Thursday and Friday

Due to the strain on staffing resources caused by the recent surge in illnesses (COVID-19, flu related or otherwise) and out of an abundance of caution, all schools in the Carson City School District will close for two days, Thursday and Friday, Jan. 13-14, 2022. With the observed Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday this Monday, students and employees are expected to return to school Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022.

New Leadership Roles for Carson City School Board

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce new leadership roles for the School Board of Trustees. At their first meeting of the year Tuesday, Jan. 11, Richard Varner, District 4, was named the newest president of the Carson City School District Board of Trustees. He replaced former President and Immediate Past President Joe Cacioppo, District 7, as the school board’s leader. Trustees Laurel Crossman, District 2, and Lupe Ramirez, District 1, were also named vice president and clerk, respectively. Crossman replaced former Vice President Varner and Ramirez replaced former Clerk Crossman. Each of the three leaders will serve one-year terms on the Carson City School Board.

06-15-17 Pedaling Books During Summer School
The Carson City Library’s Pedal Library will be busy delivering books to students attending summer school. Now through the end of June, the teardrop trailer pulled behind a bike will provide up to 60 pounds of books at each elementary school within the Carson City School District. The mobile library will be offering mobile wifi and charging station soon.
